Ensuring the best level of fire protection is quite rightly a high priority for all designers, particularly in residential buildings. With fermacell® spandrel partitions, these challenging fire safety requirements can be successfully achieved. fermacell® dry lining is classified as an A2 non-combustible material in accordance with DIN EN 13501-1, and can achieve a fire performance rating of 60 minutes (tested to BS 476: Part 22: 1987). Spandrel partitions are pre-assembled structural panels used as a separating wall to help stop the spread of fire in new build houses and bungalows.
fermacell® fibre gypsum board is inherently stronger than standard plasterboard. One 15 mm sheet of fermacell replaces two sheets of plasterboard to achieve the fire and acoustic requirements of a spandrel panel, thus giving all the performance you need with half the time and labour.
fermacell® spandrel panels are suitable for use with Robust Details walls in relation to Part E sound insulation performance requirements (refer to Appendix A1 of the Robust Details Handbook, regarding spandrel panels, for details).
Unlike conventional plasterboard partitions, there’s no need for a plastic covering to the fermacell® spandrel panel, which can be left exposed in urban areas for up to 8 weeks.
